Ritengo abbastanza probabile che Umberto svolgesse il servizio di leva alla Scuola di tiro di Fanteria di Parma. A questo link è possibile vedere una foto in cui le mura di recinzione sembrano essere molto simili a quelle della foto che ritrae Umberto.

I think is quite probable that the city in which Umberto did military service was Parma. Here there was an ancient school of Infatry. At this link can be seen a picture in which the walls seem to be very similar to the photo showing Umberto:
